Jason and Seth had suits custom-made for their wedding day. The couple wore black-on-black pinstripe suits in different styles and completed their looks with pink ties.
Jason and Seth wore simple, sleek calla lilly boutonnieres.
Because they are both Jewish, Jason and Seth wanted a fairly traditional Jewish ceremony. The couple called upon Seth’s family rabbi and synagogue for the intimate ceremony in hopes that the rabbi would allow them to have the wedding in the temple. Immediately he said yes, and Jason and Seth set the date.
Jason and Seth were married in a temple overlooking Lake Michigan. The couple exchanged vows beneath a huppah in front of 60 of their closest friends and family.
At the cocktail hour, guests were greeted with signature drinks -- Seth’s vodka gimlet and Jason’s black martini. Hors d’oeuvres, including salmon endive and Gruyere puffs, were also passed around the bar area for guests to enjoy. Dinner choices reflected Jason and Seth‘s favorite dishes from the restaurant, and dessert included a rich, dense white chocolate mousse with bittersweet chocolate sauce and a mille fleur filled with mangoes and a raspberry puree.
The tables were set with simple elegant floral centerpieces. Jason and Seth chose natural blue-hued flowers for their arrangements, which coordinated with their invitations.
“I’ve always had a thing about the cake at a wedding and wanted ours to look and taste good,” Jason says. The three-tiered cake featured layers with yellow cake, peanut butter frosting, and strawberry jam; and chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting. The best part: it looked like the piece of art that had inspired the rest of the wedding day details.
Soon after finding each other online at PlanetOut.com, Jason and Seth realized they had a lot in common. They met in person, dated, and after living together for five years, decided to get engaged.

The two commissioned their jeweler friend to design their rings, and once the bands were ready, Seth and Jason were officially engaged. With an emphasis on food, wine, and their love for one another, the couple planned their Chicago wedding from their home in New York and enlisted a wedding planner to help pull together all the wedding day details. The inspiration for their wedding theme and colors? The first piece of art the two had bought together.
