Invite wording guidelines:
The person paying for the wedding is generally, but not always, recognized as the event's host on the invite. So if you two are footing the bill for the wedding, then your names should be at the top of the invitation.
For the couple hosting with one set of parents:
Mr. and Mrs. John L. Baker
request the honor of your presence
at the marriage of their son
Derek Ryan
to
Charles Robert Jacobson
Saturday, the seventeenth of May
two thousand and eight
at half past four in the afternoon
or
Mr. and Mrs. John L. Baker
request the pleasure of your company
at the marriage of their son
Derek Ryan
to
Charles Robert Jacobson
Saturday, the seventeenth of May
two thousand and eight
at half past four in the afternoon
Knot Note: Because Derek's parents' names are listed on the invitation, there is no need to list his last name. But Charles' entire name (first, middle, and last) should be listed on the following line.
